Origin Story
The Austrian Silver Philharmonics debuted in 2008 as a late follow-up to its counterpart, the Austrian Gold Philharmonics, launched in 1989. Together, they pay tribute to the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Design
The design is the same as that on the Austrian Gold Philharmonic coins:
- Heads: The obverse design features the Great Organ located in the Musikverein concert hall in Vienna.
- Tails: On the reverse, the Austrian Silver Philharmonic has cellos, violins, a bassoon, a harp, the Viennese horn, and a stringed bass as the central focus.
